The SolarBuddy Student program provides safe, reliable, effective & innovative solar energy solutions to communities who suffer from the limiting effects of energy poverty. Our program aims to connect communities across the globe, combining learning and education with assistance and aid. We believe that renewable energy has the ability to change lives forever, providing future generations with the opportunity to reach their full potential.

How it works

We will come to you! With solar unit kits and inspiring stories. Your team will be brought closer together through this unique and heart-warming shared experience. 

Working in teams of 3-4, delegates will assemble a StudentBuddy unit which will be donated to school students in developing countries to power and illuminate their family’s home.

These solar units provide families living in energy poverty with light that can be ceiling-hung or used as a torch and has USB charging capabilities. These lights allow children to read and study at night, furthering educational outcomes and providing light for safe use of tools and other means of income. 

The StudentBuddy solar devices come with 3 light settings, a chargeable solar panel, and USB charging for 2 devices. The units are made with sustainability in mind. All parts are replaceable, and aluminium components are 100% recyclable.

At the end of the activity, we reflect on what this program really means and then the lights are shipped to our charity partner and distributed around the globe.
