The StudentBuddy PowerUP program empowers your team to assemble solar-powered StudentBuddy units that are donated to students in developing countries. This hands-on CSR experience connects your team to a meaningful cause while fostering collaboration, teamwork, and engagement. Each solar unit provides safe, reliable light to support education, income generation, and family well-being. Now available virtually for remote or hybrid teams.
Your team begins with an inspiring presentation highlighting the global issue of energy poverty and the impact SolarBuddy programs have on children’s education, health, and safety.
Working in small teams of 3–4, participants assemble their StudentBuddy units from provided kits. Each unit includes a solar panel, USB charging for two devices, and three light settings. Participants also write a personal message for the recipient, adding a heartfelt connection to the gift. This part of the session can be run in-person at tables, or virtually, where the StudentBuddy units are shipped to participants in advance and a facilitator guides the session via Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
Once all units are assembled and notes written, participants reflect on the positive global impact of their contribution. The completed units are then quality-checked, collected, and sent to our charity partners for distribution across the globe, including India, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Tibet, Thailand, Myanmar, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea.
This structure ensures your team experiences a meaningful activity that combines teamwork, purpose, and a tangible global impact.
For in-person events: a projector, screen, and microphone are required
For virtual events: StudentBuddy units are shipped to the client at their head-office or conference venue (not multiple locations unless quantity is an increment of 25). Additional postage fees apply.

Sam was fantastic! Thank you for facilitating a great activity - the feedback from the team was overwhelmingly positive :) We’ll be recommending this event to other teams internally!

The delivery was excellent, our facilitator really got the teams involved and was engaging throughout. In particular, taking photos of everyone with their lights was fun, and everyone left feeling a bit more thankful for the lives we live today. It was a great reminder of our privilege, whilst also being the right amount of fun and meaningful.
