Melbourne Water Taxi Treasure Hunt

The Melbourne Water Taxi Treasure Hunt is a thrilling 3-hour team challenge along the iconic Yarra River. With the city skyline as your backdrop and your very own skippered boat, it’s the perfect way to explore Melbourne’s famous landmarks and hidden gems.

Teams will compete in a fast-paced race along the river, solving clues, completing challenges, and collecting code pieces to unlock their team’s treasure. Who will crack the code first and take home the glory?

How it works

Each team is assigned their own private water taxi and skipper to help them navigate the Yarra River. Armed with a map and cryptic clues, teams must visit key activity checkpoints—located at popular riverside spots like Federation Square, Crown Landing, Exhibition Centre, and beyond.

At each stop, your team will tackle a fun, hands-on challenge to earn a piece of the map and part of the treasure code. Once all clues are collected, it's a race to the final destination. Unlock the treasure chest first, and you’ll walk away with the top prize!

Example Challenges:

• Shipwrecked – Construct a floating vessel using paddle pop sticks and tape. The more coins it holds without sinking, the more points your team scores.
• Cannons – Fire foam “cannonballs” with catapults towards a target zone, where teammates must catch them with precision.
• Marooned – Work together to select survival items before your ship sinks. Strategic thinking and communication are key.
