How It Works

Your team begins with an inspiring presentation highlighting the global issue of energy poverty and the impact SolarBuddy programs have on communities living without reliable power, from children and families to local health workers.

Each team then works together to assemble a Bright Futures Bundle: a modular solar-powered device that charges phones and other devices, doubles as a sturdy safety tool for women and children after dark, and comes with a head torch attachment for hands-free use. Once the bundles are built, participants write a heartfelt note to accompany them before everything is quality-checked, collected, and sent to our charity partners for distribution across the globe, including India, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Tibet, Thailand, Myanmar, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea.

This structure ensures your team experiences a meaningful activity that combines teamwork, purpose, and a tangible global impact.

For in-person events: a projector, screen, and microphone are required.

For virtual events: Bundles are shipped to the client at their head office or conference venue (not multiple locations unless quantity is an increment of 25). Additional postage fees apply.

What To Expect

This hands-on CSR workshop brings your team together to assemble solar-powered lights while learning about the real-world impact of energy poverty.

  • Build the Bright Futures Bundle – Each team of 3-4 participants assembles a fully functional solar-powered bundle, complete with device charging, a safety baton design, and a head torch attachment, to bring light and opportunity to communities living in energy poverty.
  • Write a Heartfelt Note – Teams add a personal message to accompany their bundle, creating a meaningful connection with the recipient.
  • Live or Virtual Facilitation – In-person sessions are guided by a facilitator. For virtual sessions, kits are shipped to participants in advance and the activity runs via Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
  • Reflect on Impact – Participants explore the global difference they’ve made, learning about the families and communities receiving the bundles and the wider implications of energy poverty.
  • Impact Report – Receive a detailed report outlining your team’s unique contribution, including the equivalent volunteering hours, CO2 emissions reduction, and other tangible outcomes from the Bright Futures Bundles.

The delivery was excellent, our facilitator really got the teams involved and was engaging throughout. In particular, taking photos of everyone with their lights was fun, and everyone left feeling a bit more thankful for the lives we live today. It was a great reminder of our privilege, whilst also being the right amount of fun and meaningful.
