Give the gift of light and hope to children living in energy poverty through the SolarBuddy Hour of Power – a powerful, one-hour charity team-building experience. During this meaningful activity, your delegates will assemble JuniorBuddy solar lights that are donated to children living in energy poverty. These lights help students study after dark, improving educational outcomes and overall well-being for entire families.
The session begins with an inspiring keynote that highlights the global issue of energy poverty and its devastating impact on children’s health, education, and potential.
Participants then build their SolarBuddy lights, typically one per person, and write a heartfelt note of hope to their “SolarBuddy” recipient. This part of the session can be run in-person at tables, or virtually, where kits are shipped to participants in advance and a facilitator guides the session via Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
Once all lights are assembled and notes written, participants reflect on the positive global impact of their contribution. The completed lights are then quality-checked, collected, and sent to our charity partners for distribution across the globe, including India, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Tibet, Thailand, Myanmar, Vanuatu, and Papua New Guinea.
This structure ensures your team experiences a meaningful activity that combines teamwork, purpose, and a tangible global impact.
For in-person events: a projector, screen, and microphone are required
For virtual events: lights are shipped to the client at their head-office (not multiple locations unless quantity is an increment of 25). Additional postage fees apply.

Live or Virtual Facilitation – In-person sessions are guided by a facilitator, and for virtual events, kits are shipped in advance and the session runs via Zoom, Teams, or Google Meet.
Reflect on Impact – Participants explore the global difference they’ve made, learning about the children receiving the lights and the broader issue of energy poverty.
Impact Report – Receive a detailed report showing your team’s unique contribution, including the equivalent volunteering hours, CO₂ emissions reduction, and other tangible outcomes of the SolarBuddy lights your team built.
