How It Works

What happens in an Amazing Race with Beyond the Boardroom?

The Amazing Race is 2.5 – 3 hours in duration and covers around 5km. We divide the group into small teams of around 6-7 people per team. The teams are briefed on the event and undertake a challenge to earn their first clue. Once underway teams walk on foot and pass-through major checkpoints aiming to arrive to the finish location with the most points – it is not technically a race! Teams can earn bonus points by collecting team photos and scavenger items along the way.

Teams receive clues at each checkpoint as they make their way through the race. They must complete the challenges which include team-based problem-solving and teamwork activities, before they receive their next Amazing Race clue. Finishing at a park for a final all in challenge OR a hotel, pub for a drink OR back at the Office / Conference Venue – we will tailor the program to suit your needs.

What To Expect

Example Amazing Race Game Challenges

Pyramids — A relay where teams race to rebuild a pyramid. There is a twist! Only one person can move one piece of the pyramid per move, and you can only place smaller pieces on top of larger pieces, not the other way around.

Catapults — Work together to calculate the perfect ratio, using a catapult to fire tennis balls for others in your team to catch. Pull back too hard, and the ball will go too far; not enough, and it won’t go anywhere at all! It’s up to your team to figure out the best ratio.

Shape Shifter — is another relay memory-based game in which each team allows only one person at a time to look at a photo of a tangram and then recite to the others how they are going to make the shape.

Nailed it — For this Amazing Race game, teams will have to work together and use problem-solving and creative thinking to balance 12 nails on just one nail head!

Number Triangle — In the form of a classic sudoku, nine numbered tiles are laid out in a triangular shape. Each team must arrange these numbers so that each side adds up to the same number.

Frequently Asked Questions

We require a large, flat grassed area. Typically, our Survivor is held in a park, beach or reserve, and we look after all the necessary applications to the council for a permit.
We recommend 8 – 10 people per team. This size allows everyone to participate actively in problem-solving while maintaining friendly competition.
The main difference between our team-building Survivor event and the TV show is that you can’t vote people off the team, tribal council-style. Instead of taking the easy route, kicking those who you don’t instantly work well with off the team, you take the time to learn how each other works and how to best optimise this learning curve to beat the other tribes!
Yes! If it is only drizzling, we provide ponchos, and your Survivor can continue as planned. If the weather is looking dire, with heavy rain and high winds, your facilitator will provide a backup wet-weather activity. We just need you to organise an indoor location to host this in, usually your conference room or office.
Make sure to wear comfortable clothing, runners, or flat shoes that are comfortable to walk in, and a hat or sunglasses. We always recommend organising your conference venue to provide water for your event OR bring your own water to minimise waste.
