COMPANY BACKGROUND

Two Decades of Building Super Teams

Beyond the Boardroom has been operating team-building activities since 2005. In more than twenty years, we have delivered thousands of successful events across Australia, for groups ranging from a single ten-person team to company-wide conferences of a thousand people or more.

We are a fully mobile national service, and one of the only national providers with dedicated offices and permanently based facilitators in Sydney, Melbourne, Gold Coast, Perth and Adelaide. We fly our team into Tasmania and the Northern Territory. Wherever your conference, offsite or team day is happening, we come to you. That includes regional and remote locations, and we have run events in the Australian outback.

Once your event is booked, you’re handed directly to your facilitator, who typically stays with you from that first conversation through to delivery on the day. It’s a facilitated day run by the same person who planned it with you, not a handover on the morning of.

Our approach has not changed since the beginning. We believe a successful team-building program needs three elements: fun, purpose and challenge. Remove any one of them, and you end up with an activity people enjoy but forget, or one that teaches something nobody wants to repeat. Put all three together, and you get a shared experience that carries back into the way your team works.

Our objective is to inspire teams, build culture, and help organisations go beyond what they thought possible. We are recognised as a provider that brings the energy of adventure experiences into genuine team development, uniting teams through competitive, challenging and inclusive shared experiences. We’re not the cheapest option in the market, and we don’t try to be: a well-run event at the right price point will always beat a cut-rate one that falls flat.

What Go Beyond means

Our brand promise is an invitation to move past the default. Go beyond Friday drinks, pizza parties and lawn bowls. Go beyond the offsite packed with back-to-back sessions. Go beyond ticking the team-building box. Like a single drop creating ripples that reach far past the point of impact, a well-designed team experience fuels energy and connection long after the day itself is over.

CHARITY AND CSR PROGRAMS

Team Building That Gives Back

Charity team building is one of the things we are best known for. These programs empower corporate teams to create meaningful change while strengthening culture and connection, bringing people together to support local communities, assemble resources for those in need, or raise funds for causes that matter.

Current charity and CSR programs include:

What happens to what your team builds

Everything created during a charity program goes directly to people who need it. We coordinate the handover with our charity partners, whether that is presenting bikes to local children, shipping solar lights to communities facing energy poverty, or delivering care packages to families experiencing homelessness.

After your event, you receive a detailed Impact Report that sets out the full value of your contribution, including the impact of the donated goods and the equivalent value of the volunteer hours. It is a transparent, outcomes-focused record of the difference your team made, designed to be used in your own CSR and sustainability reporting.

We work with established charities and corporate partners across Australia and internationally, spanning children’s charities, wildlife organisations, homelessness support services and international aid groups. If your organisation already supports a particular cause, we can tailor a program around it.

HOW WE WORK

How We Design and Deliver Your Event

Everything starts with your goal

Before we recommend an activity, we ask what you want the day to achieve. Improved communication, stronger trust, creative thinking, problem-solving, or simply reconnecting people who rarely see each other. Are you welcoming new team members, helping separate departments collaborate, or rewarding a team that has had a demanding year? Once the goal is clear, our coordinators guide you to the programs that fit it. Most clients know which direction they are heading after a short conversation.

Professional facilitation, not just supervision

Every event is led by skilled facilitators who connect what happens in the activity to how your team works day-to-day. Once your event is booked, you’re handed directly to your facilitator, who typically stays with you from that first conversation through to delivery on the day, rather than a handover on the morning of. Our facilitators are experienced at reading the room, keeping energy high, adapting on the fly, and making sure quieter participants are drawn in rather than left on the sidelines.

Tailored to your organisation

We specialise in customisation. We can build your company values into the challenges, write custom trivia about your organisation, align the program with your conference theme, and design tasks that reflect the specific outcomes you are chasing.

Multi-city and hybrid delivery

If your organisation has offices in several states, we can run the same event at the same time across all locations. That can be face-to-face with a facilitator in each city, fully virtual via Zoom or Teams, or a hybrid of both, so every team shares one experience and one result rather than several disconnected ones.

Designed for everyone in the room

Our programs are designed to include every participant, regardless of role, age, fitness level, or background. Challenges are designed so that different strengths matter, meaning the person who solves the puzzle, the person who organises the team, and the person who runs the fastest all contribute to the same outcome. We are committed to inclusivity, safety and measurable results.

Venue guidance

If you have not locked in a location, we can help. Two decades of running events across Australia means we have working relationships with hotels, resorts and venues nationwide, and we can suggest suitable indoor and outdoor sites in your chosen city.

Planning, Booking and Practical Details

Start with an enquiry through the contact form, by phone on 1300 998 782, or by email. The form asks for your state, location, estimated group size, approximate date, event type, and primary goal, which allows our coordinators to come back to you with genuinely relevant options rather than a generic brochure.

For charity and CSR programs, we recommend booking at least four to six weeks ahead, particularly for large groups, so we can coordinate with charity partners and source materials. Other programs can often be arranged on shorter notice, though popular dates around the end of the financial year and end of the calendar year fill early.

SCHOOL AND EDUCATION PROGRAMS

Programs for Schools and Universities

Alongside our corporate work, we deliver curriculum-aligned programs for schools across Australia. Details are at school-programs.

Programs are built around your learning objectives and support the general capabilities recognised across the Australian Curriculum, including communication, collaboration, critical thinking and student wellbeing. They range from STEM-aligned problem-solving challenges to leadership and teamwork incursions that build social and emotional learning.

Programs typically run between one and three hours, and can be extended to a full day by combining activities. They can be delivered on school grounds as an incursion or offsite as an excursion, and scale from a single year level to whole-school events of 1,000 students or more. Virtual and hybrid delivery is available for schools with multiple campuses or remote students.

Institutions we have worked with include La Trobe University, the University of Sydney, UNSW Sydney, the Broken Hill University Department of Rural Health, the ARC Centre of Excellence in Optical Microcombs for Breakthrough Science at RMIT, Geelong College, Trinity Grammar School, Mentone Girls Grammar, Bankstown Girls High School, Silkwood School, East Adelaide School, Berrinba East School and Kalianna School Bendigo.

Questions we are commonly asked

What does Beyond the Boardroom do?

Beyond the Boardroom is an Australian team-building specialist. We design and facilitate corporate team-building events, charity and CSR programs, team development workshops, night events and virtual experiences for organisations across Australia, and we deliver curriculum-aligned programs for schools. We have been operating since 2005.

Where is Beyond the Boardroom based and where do you operate?

We’re one of the only national team-building providers with dedicated offices and permanently based facilitators in Sydney, Melbourne, the Gold Coast (servicing Brisbane), Perth and Adelaide. We fly our team into Tasmania and the Northern Territory. We are a totally mobile service, so we come to you anywhere in Australia, including regional and remote locations.

How much does a team-building event cost?

Team building in Australia typically costs between $40 and $350 per person, depending on format, group size, location and inclusions. Most facilitated events fall between $60 and $250 per person, with self-run activities from around $40pp and premium or charity formats reaching up to $350pp. See our full Team Building Cost Guide for a breakdown by format.

What’s included in the price?

A facilitated event typically includes your facilitator, activity materials, and venue liaison. Charity and give-back formats also include a genuine donation or contribution as part of the price, not a token add-on.

How long does a team-building activity take?

Programs range from 30 minutes for a quick break in a conference agenda to 3.5 hours for a full adventure experience. If you need to fill more than 3.5 hours, we can create a bespoke event that combines two challenges.

How many people can take part?

Our programs scale from small teams of five through to company-wide events of 1,000 participants or more. For large corporate groups, speak directly with our event coordinators so we can recommend the right challenge at a competitive rate.

Do you run virtual and hybrid team building?

Yes. We offer a full range of virtual and hybrid programs designed for remote and distributed teams, delivered over Zoom or Teams. Participants can join from anywhere, and the format works for fully remote teams as well as hybrid setups.

Our company has offices in several states. Can we run events in all of them?

Yes, and this is something we specialise in. We can run the same event at the same time in different locations, either face-to-face with a facilitator in each city or fully virtually, so every team shares one experience and one outcome.

Can you tailor an activity to our company values or conference theme?

Yes. We can build your values into the challenges, create custom trivia about your organisation, and design tasks around your specific goals or conference theme. Customisation is standard rather than an add-on.

What are your most popular programs?

The Amazing Race, Survivor, Bike Brigade, SolarBuddy, LEGO® Serious Play®, Game Show Trivia Night and Battle of the Minds.

We do not have a venue yet. Can you recommend one?

Yes. We have 20 years of experience working in indoor and outdoor locations, and we partner with hotels, resorts, and venues Australia-wide. Tell us your city, and we will suggest suitable options.

How do charity team-building events benefit our team and the community?

They create a dual impact. Your team develops stronger bonds, better communication and sharper problem-solving through meaningful collaboration, while communities receive tangible support such as bikes for children, solar lights for families without electricity, or prosthetic hands for landmine victims. You also receive an Impact Report documenting the full value of the contribution.

Do you work with schools?

Yes. We deliver excursions and incursions for students in Years 7 to 12, as well as professional development days for teaching staff, across Australia. Programs are curriculum-aligned and scale from a single year level to whole-school events.

How do we get in touch?
